  1. Wrap

Wrap a thin strip of paper around the base of your finger, snug but not tight.

  2. Mark and measure

Mark where the paper meets, lay it flat and measure in millimetres. That is your circumference.

  3. Match

Find the closest circumference in the chart. Measure in the evening, when fingers are a little larger.

Chains

Length decides where a chain sits. Width and weight decide how it looks and how much gold you are wearing.

Where it falls

From choker to chest

16″18″20″22″24″30″ChokerPrincessOperaMatinee

The two brighter lines, 18 and 20 in, are the most popular lengths. Where a chain falls also depends on your build.

Lengths

  • 16 in41 cmBase of the neckClose to the neck, like a choker on most people.
  • 18 in46 cmOn the collarboneThe classic length for women, and for most pendants.
  • 20 in51 cmJust below the collarboneA favorite for men. Sits nicely in an open collar.
  • 22 in56 cmTop of the chestEasy to wear over a shirt or sweater.
  • 24 in61 cmMid chestA classic men’s length, and good for layering.
  • 30 in76 cmNear the breastboneLong and easy. Can be doubled or layered.

Width

Fine to bold

Drawn to scale against each other. Wider chains weigh more, so each length lists its own gold weight and price.

  • 3 mmEveryday
  • 5 mmStatement
  • 7 mmBold
  • 10 mmHeavy

Tip: lay a string around your neck where you want the chain, then measure the string.

Necklaces & pendants

A pendant hangs below the end of its chain. Pick the chain for where you want the pendant to land.

How it hangs

Chain, then pendant

Chain endsPendantadds its heightOn an 18″ chain

Check the bail

The loop on top of a pendant is the bail. Your chain and its clasp need to pass through it. Ask us if you are not sure a chain will fit.

Pairing a pendant

  • SmallUnder 15 mmPair with a 16 to 18 in chainDelicate pieces stay close to the neck where they can be seen.
  • Medium15 to 30 mmPair with a 18 to 20 in chainLands on or just below the collarbone. The easiest pairing.
  • LargeOver 30 mmPair with a 20 to 24 in chainGives a bold medallion room to hang and lie flat.

Layering two or three? Space them about 2 in apart, for example 16, 18 and 20 in, so the pendants do not tangle.

Reading a listing

25 × 18 mm

Pendant sizes are height by width. Height is measured from the top of the bail to the bottom of the pendant, and width at its widest point. So 25 × 18 mm is 25 mm tall including the loop, and 18 mm across.

Bracelets

Measure your wrist, then add room for how you like it to sit. Bracelet lengths are measured end to end, clasp included.

Step one

Choose your fit

The looser the fit, the further the bracelet slides from your wrist bone toward your hand.

  • Snug+ ½ inClose to the skin and stays put. Good for thin chains and stacking.
  • Comfortable+ 1 inMoves a little but stays on the wrist. Right for most bracelets.
  • Loose+ 1½ inDrapes toward the hand, like a bangle. Good for charm bracelets.

Step two

Measure your wrist

  1. Wrap

Wrap a soft tape, or a strip of paper, around your wrist just below the bone.

  2. Note it

Keep it snug against the skin, not tight. Note where it meets.

  3. Read across

Find your wrist in the chart and read across to the fit you chose.

Wide or chunky bracelet?

Thick links take up room on the inside. Go a quarter inch longer than the chart.

Bangles

A bangle has no clasp, so it has to slide over your hand. That is why we size by your hand, not your wrist.

Inside diameter

Three sizes, to scale

Already own a bangle that fits? Measure straight across the inside and match it to a size.

  • MMedium · 2.6 in across66 mm inside · 8.2 in aroundHand measures 7½ to 8 in
  • LLarge · 2.8 in across71 mm inside · 8.8 in aroundHand measures 8 to 8¾ in

Right on the line between two sizes? Take the larger one. A bangle that will not pass your knuckles cannot be worn.

  1. Tuck your thumb

Bring your fingers together and fold your thumb in toward your little finger, as if slipping on a bangle.

  2. Measure around

Wrap a soft tape around the widest part of your hand, across the knuckles.

  3. Pick a size

Find the size whose hand range includes your number.
